Pride Book Club 4 (Council Led Event)

19/06/2024 - Clive James Library and Service Centre.

Join us for the fourth quarterly Pride Book Club at the library facilitated by queer author Erin Gough. This Pride Book Club will be in celebration of Pride Month with the theme being Queer Pride and what this means to different queer communities in the modern world.

Queer Pride is both a celebration and a call to action which embraces diversity and inclusivity. Through art, media, and grassroots organizing, Queer Pride continues to redefine notions of identity and belonging. Participants will be encouraged to think about Queer Pride and what it means to them as individuals and how this plays out in society.

This Pride Book Club will be a discussion of the role of literature, media and art to challenge societal norms whilst also inspiring solidarity across diverse communities for a more equitable future. Participants are encouraged to read a text from the Georges River Libraries Pride Collection that reflects these ideas in an engaging and innovative way.

The Pride Book Club aims to promote books and graphic novels by LGBTQIA+ authors; provide an opportunity to discuss LGBTQIA+ stories, perspectives, and themes; and provide a supportive and inclusive environment that is open to everyone.

This event is suitable for ages 16 plus and over.
