Join us for a walking tour of Carss Bush Park, where you will discover the rich history of the park and its development over the last century. Led by Georges River Libraries Local Studies staff, this tour will take you on a journey through time.  

Through this tour you will:  

  • Connect with the past and learn more about this unique piece of Georges River history.
  • Learn about the development of Carss Bush Park from a private estate to public parkland; what has changed and what has been preserved? 
  • Celebrate the development of Carss Bush Park over the last century.

Bring your own mobile device (internet access required) to access tour information on site.

About Local Studies

Our Local Studies Team support the preservation and promotion of the Georges River Council through the research and collection of local historical materials such as maps, photographs and newspapers to gain a deeper understanding of our history, culture, and community.  

About the Australian Heritage Festival

The Australian Heritage Festival is an annual celebration of culture, history and heritage throughout Australia. The 2024 Theme is Connections, encouraging celebration of the rich and diverse stories of our nation, strengthening cultural and historical ties and forging new bonds. 

Please note: participants must be able to stand / walk for a period of 1-2 hour. Meet at Carss Cottage at the start time, the tour will end in the park with light refreshments. This event will not be rescheduled in wet weather.

Terms and conditions

  • For participants under the age of 16, parents and/or guardians of children must remain in the library for the duration of the program.     
  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue     
  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces and repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations, bookings may be refused in the future.
