Exhibition Opening: Legacies - Bernadette Smith (Council Led Event)

05/05/2024 - Hurstville Museum & Gallery

Join us at Hurstville Museum & Gallery for the opening of Legacies, an exhibition by Bernadette Smith.

Drawing on photographs taken during her time as Carss Park Artist in Residence, Bernadette Smith’s 'Legacies' exhibition explores the relationship between migration, colonialism, and the environment.

Reflecting on her identity as the child of a migrant and a fourth-generation settler, Bernadette presents a visual and philosophical meditation on changes wrought by settlers to the land and its First Nations, as well as an examination of the plight of those forced to emigrate from far-away homelands.
