Governance

A 2015 review of local government boundaries by the NSW Government Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal recommended that Kogarah City Council and Hurstville City Council amalgamate to form a new council with an area of 38 square kilometres and support a population of approximately 147,000.
 
Georges River Council was proclaimed on 12 May 2016 and former Sutherland Shire General Manager, John Rayner, was appointed Administrator. The first meeting of the Georges River Council was held at Kogarah Civic Centre on 19 May 2016.

The inaugural Mayor of Georges River Council is Councillor Kevin Greene, who was elected unopposed by his fellow Councillors on 25 September 2017.
 

Stadium History

Georges River Council resumed management of Jubilee Stadium in February 2017 and has taken the opportunity to make the Stadium more accessible to other sporting clubs and codes. This ensures greater use of the venue and establishes a more vibrant sporting precinct in the local area, which also improves Jubilee Stadium’s long-term commercial viability.

Jubilee Stadium is the home ground of St George Illawarra Dragons and Sydney Football Club and other high profile clubs, St George Football Association and Arsenal FC have also utilised this outstanding venue earkuer ub 2018. Jubilee Stadium is the premium sporting venue in the Georges River LGA, with capacity for 20,000 people including 2,000 corporate seats, four separate dressing rooms and three function rooms ranging in capacity from 100-300 pax. The main asset that attracts attention from professional players is the quality of the playing surface, and additionally having hot and cold baths in the main home change room.
 

Naming rights

In January 2019, St George-based company Network Strata Services Pty Ltd, also known as Netstrata was announced as the Naming Rights sponsor for Jubilee Stadium. The venue will be called Netstrata Jubilee Stadium for a period of three years.
