The much loved walkway from Oatley to Como is another unique asset in Georges River where a number of different agencies and stakeholders are involved.
The approximately 800m long asphalt pathway spans from the end of Myra Place, Oatley to the Como Railway Bridge. The pathway is bounded by the Sydney Train owned rail corridor (T4 route) to the northwest, and the Sydney Water owned trunk main to the southeast.
The pathway itself is located on land owned by the State Government, and maintenance is currently the responsibility of the relevant State Government entities. As such, Council is not responsible for any maintenance along the pathway.
Council recognises the pathway is dilapidated and continues to advocate for maintenance and improvements to this important community path.
Council had previously received grant funding for the design of an upgrade to the path. Concept designs have now been handed over to the State Government to continue to progress the improvement works through the detailed design and delivery stages.
Council will remain a key stakeholder during the next process steps to ensure project outcomes and community expectations are met.
