Georges River Council’s enthralling Uncontained Arts Festival is returning to Kogarah this winter from Friday 27 June to Sunday 29 June 2025.
Proudly supported by Major Sponsor Optus, and Event Sponsors Sydney Water and VJB Group, the 2025 Festival will transform Belgrave Street, Kogarah into a vibrant open-air gallery, featuring immersive art, hands-on experiences, glowing light displays, live music and delicious food.
Breaking free from traditional gallery spaces, Uncontained turns the streets into a creative playground that celebrates local identity and encourages community participation.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, “Uncontained is back, and I couldn’t be more excited to see Kogarah come alive with art, light and imagination this winter.”
“Public art has the power to enliven public spaces, provoke thought, and strengthen our connection to place”.
“Through Uncontained, Council is proud to support artists whose work not only inspires and engages, but also reflects the rich character of the Georges River area.”
“I encourage everyone to come along, take part and enjoy the creativity and fun on offer.”
The full line-up of artists and artworks featured at this year’s Uncontained Arts Festival includes:

Samuel Absurd x Lawrence Liang - ANINA
ANINA is inspired by the Eastern philosophical principles of Bardo, a Tibetan Buddhist concept referring to the intermediate state between death and reincarnation.
Bardo represents duality, between what was and what will be; in every moment, the past and future overlap simultaneously to create the present.
The animation tells a story focused on a unique duality relating to Kogarah and Georges River. The duality of identity for many Australian migrants, who bridge two cultural worlds on the day to day.
