Register for Clean Up Australia Day 2026 to Keep Georges River Beautiful

13/02/2026

Georges River Council is encouraging the community to volunteer and glove up for Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 1 March 2026.

Clean Up Australia began in 1990, founded by Ian Kiernan AO. Since then, it has grown into the nation’s largest community‑led environmental movement, with more than 23 million Australians taking part to help clean up their local areas.

In 2025, Georges River residents showed their strong commitment to the environment by removing more than 1.42 tonnes of litter across 26 registered clean‑up sites.

Georges River Mayor Elise Borg said, “Our community takes pride in our local environment, and Clean Up Australia Day is a wonderful way to make a real difference.

“I encourage residents to get involved and help care for our parks, waterways and bushland.

“Every bag of litter collected helps Keep Georges River Beautiful for today and for future generations.”

Registrations for Clean Up Australia Day 2026 are now open. Volunteers who register will receive a free Clean Up kit, containing gloves, bags and other resources, with packs for individuals, families and community groups available. Businesses are asked to pay a small fee to cover costs.

There will be a special Business Clean Up Day on Tuesday February 24 2026, and Schools Clean Up Day on Friday February 27 2026.

If you are unable to participate, donations to Clean Up Australia are welcome, with 100 percent of funds raised going directly to providing Clean Up kits.
