NSW Seniors Festival 2017: Author talk with Dr Nicola Gates


Hurstville Library will celebrate NSW Seniors Festival 2017 with a free talk to be given by neuropsychologist Dr Nicola Gates, author of A Brain for Life: how to optimise your brain’s health by making simple lifestyle changes now (2016).

In A Brain for Life, Nicola draws on cutting-edge research to explain the amazing roles our health and fitness, as well as mental activity, play in brain health.

At this talk, Nicola will explain how to optimise your brain’s health and reduce your risk of dementia by making simple lifestyle changes.
She will also discuss why inflammation is a key dementia risk and how to avoid it, why a healthy gut means a healthy brain, the critical link between exercise and brain fitness, and why your brain wants you to stay social.
Dr Nicola Gates has over 20 years’ experience in public health settings and private practice.
Her clinical work and research promote total wellbeing and her practice combines neuroscience research, proven psychological therapies with mindfulness, positive psychology and a solution focused framework.
