Jump to it! Georges River Libraries are celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) with a live picture book reading. Join us on Wednesday 27 May 2026, as Elise Kellond-Knight, former Matildas player and Olympian, reads the book “Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller”.
 
 There will also be a range of exciting on-the-day events, including:

• Morning Rhyme Time and Storytime sessions.

• Live midday broadcast of “Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller” at Hurstville Library.

• After school bubble soccer at Beverly Hills Park.

• Afternoon craft at Clive James Library Kogarah.

NSS is planned each year by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and features an Australian picture book which is read at libraries, preschools and schools at the same time across Australia.
 
This year's book is “Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller” by Adam Jackson, Adrian Lloyd and Jake A Minton. Join our reading session and cheer on for Luna Roo as she finds her inner strength on the sports field in this energetic underdog story. 
 
In the spirit of Luna Roo, strap in for the bounciest game of soccer you will ever play! Children aged 8 years and over are invited to take part in a fast-paced Bubble Soccer session at Beverly Hills Park.
 
Children can wear their favourite sporting gear or team colours to any of Council’s NSS events to go into the draw to win a copy of the book! From Monday 25 May to Sunday 31 May 2026, visit any Georges River Library to take part in a fun soccer-themed competition for a chance to win a prize.
