Our employees will be awarded instantaneously for high work performance, demonstration of Council values and/or significant contribution to the team, department and Council. We also recognise and acknowledge the long-term service of our staff and celebrate the contribution of individuals at specified service milestones. These milestones are acknowledged with a gift from 10 years of continuous permanent full-time or part-time service for every 5 years.

Our learning and development program is extensive and provides great opportunities for all staff to develop a variety of technical and professional skills that support their success at Council.

We have developed a culture with transparent and accessible communication channels between staff and management. Staff are engaged regularly via Employee Engagement Surveys and are encouraged to seek clarification and provide feedback on any council and organisational matters at any time. SImilarly, we encourage staff to make suggested improvements and to nominate initiative which provide benefits to the organisation and community.

We also run a number of professional development programs including the Rivers Run Annual Staff Conference, the Annual Management Challenge and the Captain's Collective Leadership Mentoring Program.
