Work experience Opportunities

While we place as many students as possible due to high demand, we are unable to guarantee that all requests for placements will be met. We encourage that students also apply for work experience at other organisations where possible.

Georges River Council is committed to supporting our local community by offering the opportunity to undertake work experience across a broad range of employment and professional areas. Areas of work experience may include:

  • What is required

    We accept students who are required to undertake work placements in association with study and/or qualifications.

    To be eligible for placement you must:

    • Be currently studying (High School, TAFE, University or College).
    • Apply for a placement that is relevant to your current study requirements; and
    • Have current insurance coverage from educational provider (Certificate of Currency) covering the duration of your placement.

    Work Experience applications are assessed on a quarterly basis.

  • How are applications assessed

    At the end of the closing date for each term, the applications are collated and forwarded to the relevant Business Unit Managers for their consideration.

    During the assessment process, P&C or the Business Unit manager may contact work experience candidates directly to clarify information provided.

    Once applications have been thoroughly assessed, candidates will be notified of the outcome via email.

  • How to apply

    All applicants are required to complete and submit an online Work Experience Application form. Please submit this form via the button below.

    When completing the form, ensure that all sections are filled out:

    • Select the relevant term
    • Specify your dates for the Work Experience to take place
    • Select up to (3) areas you would like to gain Work Experience
    • Attach a copy of your current resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
    • Provide documentation of Public Liability Insurance – this can be an email confirmation from place of education.
