Works to begin on new sports amenities building at Claydon Reserve, Sans Souci

Georges River Council has appointed contractors to commence works on the construction of a new $950,000 sports amenities building at Claydon Reserve Sans Souci.

The majority of funding for this project is through the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund, which allocated more than $9 million to improve local infrastructure and services throughout the merged Council area. Additional funds will be sourced through Club contributions and Council.

The new works will feature public amenities, change rooms, canteen, storage facilities clubroom and undercover barbecue area.

Due to the high levels of participation in local sport, extensive consultation with all sporting codes and clubs was undertaken to ensure the new amenities meet the growing needs of each Association and Club.

The Mayor of Georges River Council, Kevin Greene said through our sporting clubs consultation process we are ensuring that upcoming sporting amenities meet the current needs of our community and the future demands of an increasing population.

“Georges River Council is committed to improving the facilities available for our community. This new sport amenities building will provide a range of benefits including increased accessibility and additional elements which make our facilities more inclusive for everyone in our community,” said Mayor Greene.

Work on the new facility is being undertaken by Jag Building & Bricklaying Pty Ltd and will commence mid-August and is expected to take up to 7 months to complete.
