The 2016 St George Art Awards exhibition now on display

Georges River Council is inviting art-lovers and members of the region to view the finalists of the 2016 St George Art Awards which are on display at the Hurstville Museum & Gallery.
A key highlight of the Museum & Gallery’s exhibition calendar, this biennial competition sees entries from artists across Australia.
This year, the competition saw a record number of entries with over 250 people entering the awards across three categories – 2D (painting), 3D and youth.
The theme for the awards was Reflection and artists were required to submit work that responds with that theme.
Artists explored the theme through a diverse range of media and subject matter, which resulted in a wonderful array of works being submitted.
Judges for this year included Urban Art Projects Curator Owen Craven, Director of the Stella Downer Fine Art Gallery, Stella Downer, and practicing artist and Senior Lecturer in Visual Arts at the Australian Catholic University, Jeannette Siebols.
Georges River Council is encouraging all art-lovers and members of the local area to come along to this amazing exhibition which will showcase the work of artists from all over Australia.
Winners of the competition will be announced on Friday 21 October.
The exhibition will then run from Saturday 22 October to Thursday 15 December 2016.
