Take part in Council’s first Christmas Lights Competition!


Mayor of Georges River Council, Cr Kevin Greene, is pleased to announce the launch of Council’s first Christmas Lights Competition.

“The competition will recognise and celebrate the many residents and businesses throughout the Georges River area who brighten up our streets with amazing Christmas light displays and create a warm festive spirit in our community.”

“As part of the competition, there are prizes for the best residential Christmas light display in each of Georges River’s five wards, and best Christmas Light display by a business” he said.  

“The highest scoring residential entry will be awarded the Best Overall Christmas Lights Prize.”   

Mayor Greene explained that winners will be announced on Tuesday 19 December and will receive a share in $4,000 worth of prizes. 

“I encourage everyone to enter Council’s first Christmas Lights Competition,” he said.  

“This is a fantastic way to get into the Christmas spirit and to help create a fun and festive atmosphere for everyone in the Georges River area.” 

“You can nominate your own house or business for this competition from Wednesday 1 November by visiting one of Council’s Civic Centres in Hurstville or Kogarah.

Entry forms will be available online via Council’s website from 1 November and entries close at 5pm on Tuesday 5 December 2017. 

Judging will take place during the week of 11-15 December 2017.
