Take part in Council’s Active Seniors Festival

29/03/2018

Georges River Council Mayor, Councillor Kevin Greene, is encouraging older members of the community to take part in the 2018 Active Seniors Festival.

The Active Seniors Festival offers a program of free activities and events to celebrate NSW Seniors Festival 2018.

Councillor Greene said this year’s festival offers numerous opportunities for seniors to get active, socialise, and find out about resources and services offered by Council and other local providers.

“The calendar this year is packed with activities, workshops and information sessions that will inspire and encourage seniors to embrace this year’s theme of ‘let’s do more together’.”

“There is something for everyone, with yoga in the beautiful surrounds of Hurstville Community Gardens, indoor bowling, a multicultural art and craft day and information on topics relevant to older people.”

The official launch takes place on Thursday 5 April, with a masked fancy dress party at Marana Auditorium, Hurstville. The event includes a live band, dance instruction, photo booth, and light refreshments.

Brochures with the full list of events, which run from Tuesday 3 April to Sunday 29 April, can be picked up at Council’s Service Centres, libraries, Hurstville Seniors Centre, Kingsgrove Community Aid Centre, Mortdale Community Centre and the Community Hub at Westfield.

For more information, please contact Council on 9330 6400 or download the program brochure.
