Sydney Trust appoints Adam Lewis as ninth curator of Sydney Cricket Ground

Mayor of Georges River Council, Cr Kevin Greene said today he is delighted that the Sydney Trust has appointed Council’s Head Curator Adam Lewis as the ninth curator in the 160-year history of the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

“Adam, throughout his stellar 24 year career at Council, has overseen Hurstville Oval and prepared it beautifully for every cricket season. He has been a tremendous asset to Council and demonstrated real dedication to maintaining the ground and wicket for all levels of cricket, from grade cricket to Test matches,” said Mayor Greene.

“Under Adam’s management, Hurstville Oval has been voted the most outstanding ground in Sydney on numerous occasions, including three seasons in a row from 2014-2016.

“I would like to extend congratulations on behalf of Council to Adam on this outstanding achievement and wish him every success for the future in his new role,” said Mayor Greene.

Council’s Head Curator, Adam Lewis said his appointment to the SCG as its curator is very much his dream job, with Council’s ongoing support over the years helping him to refine his ground-keeping skills.

“I am very humbled to get the opportunity to work at the SCG, which is one of the greatest sporting grounds in the world. I would like to thank Council for fostering my career development over the years,” he said.

“During my time at Council I received some exceptional professional development, including an opportunity last year to work at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for the 2016 Boxing Day Test.

“I am genuinely grateful for the opportunities that have been made available to me through my role at Council which have helped me achieve my career success,” added Mr Lewis.

Adam will commence his appointment at the SGC in mid-November 2017.
