Southern Sydney Councils Innovation and Entrepreneurship Roundtable

Georges River Council partnered with Regional Development Australia Sydney to host an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Roundtable on 13 February in Hurstville. The event provided an opportunity for Southern Sydney Councils to share knowledge and ideas that support innovation and entrepreneurship locally.

The Georges River and the broader South District are critical to the future success of Sydney, and Georges River Council is taking a leading role in identifying and promoting priorities that will see the area prosper and have lasting impacts on the Greater Sydney Region.

The event was supported by a host of experts and was chaired by Tim Boyle, Director Innovation & Commercialisation of ANSTO. Guest speakers included local entrepreneur Adam Arbolino, Founder of FuzzyLogic Labs in Allawah, CEO of the Sydney School of Entrepreneurship Sarah Jones and Associate Professor Martin Bliemel from the Faculty of Transdisciplinary Innovation at UTS.

The event was well attended by representatives from Councils and universities, and provided a platform for discussion around how best to identify and support innovation and entrepreneurship in localised areas, both as individual councils and in collaboration with others.

Representatives from UTS, Wollongong University, University of New England and Western Sydney University embraced the opportunity to collaborate with members from Councils including the Sutherland Shire Council, Bayside Council, Wollongong City Council, Canterbury Bankstown Council and Campbelltown City Council.
