Public Notice: Penshurst Park Playground closure

Fragments of bonded asbestos have been identified in the garden beds adjacent to the existing playground at Penshurst Park. The material was identified during a site inspection in preparation for the construction of Stage 2 of the Penshurst Park Sporting Hub and new playground.

To prevent exposure, Georges River Council has engaged the services of a professional licenced asbestos removal contractor to manage and remove the asbestos from the site.

Council takes the matter of asbestos very seriously and will continue to work to ensure the material does not pose a risk to the community.
Temporary fencing has been erected to prevent access to the park while the material is removed, and the park will remain closed given the construction of the new playground will commence in seven weeks’ time.

Council appreciates the community’s cooperation during this time and asks that residents refrain from accessing the site while the temporary fencing remains in place.
