Pink Up Your Town

28/09/2018

This October, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Georges River Council is promoting and participating in the McGrath Foundation’s Pink Up Your Town initiative.

The McGrath Foundation works to raise funds to place specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia. These Breast Care Nurses offer help to individuals and their families experiencing breast cancer by providing physical, psychological and emotional support.

Pink Up Your Town is a great fundraising opportunity that calls for entire towns or areas to ‘pink up’ and help raise funds for the Foundation and it’s also a wonderful visual demonstration of support.

Georges River Council will be participating in Pink Up Your Town throughout first two weeks of October using street banners, pink lighting and posters. We are also encouraging businesses, retailers and schools across the LGA to ‘pink up’ during the month of October to create a visual show of support for local families experiencing breast cancer.

There are lots of fun and inexpensive ways you can show support including holding a pink mufti day, decorating your shop/building pink or celebrating with a barbeque or morning tea to generate a gold coin donation for the charity. Get together and get creative to see what ways you might be able to help ‘pink up’ our towns!

For more information about the Pink Up Your Town initiative, visit www.pinkupyourtown.com.au to register your interest and find downloadable resources that show you are helping to turn Georges River pink.

We are also encouraging our residents and local businesses to let us know how they are ‘pinking up’ the town by sharing their images on Instagram @grcouncil using #pinkupgeorgesriver or via media@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au.
