New roof to kick-start upgrade of Kogarah Library and Service Centre


Kogarah Library and Service Centre is set to undergo an upgrade, which will see the start of building becoming a new and improved customer service hub and library.
Georges River Council Mayor Kevin Greene the start of the upgrade to modernise the Library and Service Centre will involve implementing a new roof for the facility.
“The existing roof has been in need of an upgrade for a long time,” Councillor Greene said.
“With significant leaks in the roof interfering with the experience of customers to the Library, Council will completely replace the roof to and ensure the leaks stop."
Councillor Greene highlighted that other enhancements scheduled for the Library and Service Centre will include a redesign and refurbished Customer Service Centre and self-service kiosks.
“As a key customer service hub in Kogarah, it is important Council can properly meet the needs for customers that visit and provide the service that they are after,” he said.
“The newly refurbished Customer Service Centre within the Library will provide a more accessible place for residents to access the services they require.”
“The library space will also be redesigned, which will include a fantastic refurbished foyer area and exhibition space where the community can enjoy comfortable seating and a coffee cart,” he added.
Funding from the project comes from the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund, with Council allocating $1.5 million to its Customer Service Hubs Project.
Works will commence in May and are expected to be completed late August.
