Netstrata Jubilee Stadium ready for a huge year of sport

05/11/2019

Netstrata Jubilee Stadium will solidify its position as the home of sport in Southern Sydney, hosting 30 national and international sporting events for 2019/20, including an already jam-packed summer of A-League Football.

The schedule features 10 home ground A-League appearances for Sydney FC, kicking off on Saturday 16 November 2019, when the Sky Blues take on fierce rivals Melbourne Victory.

Three Asian Champions League matches are expected to be confirmed for the venue in coming weeks, along with the 2020 NRL Draw. These games follow the recent announcement that the Cronulla Sharks will be calling Netstrata Jubilee Stadium home in 2020, while their long-time home ground at Woolooware receives a makeover.

The NRL draw contains 11 home games for the Sharks at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium and a further five home games for the Dragons at what is considered their spiritual home.

Georges River Council Mayor Kevin Greene described the next 12 months as an exciting time for local sports fans of both major football codes.

“It’s a great time to be an A-League or NRL fan in Georges River,” said Mayor Greene.

“The summer of A-League is shaping up to be a big one at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, and we’re encouraging everyone to get behind Sydney FC as they attempt to claim a second straight title.”

“With 16 NRL matches confirmed for 2020, Netstrata Jubilee Stadium is set to host its largest NRL draw in history, which is great news for Rugby League fans here in the Georges River area, with an unprecedented number of first-grade games to be played at Kogarah.

“It doesn’t matter who you barrack for, we’re encouraging all local families and sports fans alike to get out to Netstrata Jubilee Stadium and make the most of the fantastic sporting entertainment on offer over the next 12 months,” added Mayor Greene.
