The local café, restaurant and small bar scene is set to come alive, thanks to a innovative program, Easy to do Business, that is being trialled by Georges River Council.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Small Business, John Barilaro joined the Minister for Finance, Services and Property, Victor Dominello on Wednesday 19 April announcing that Easy to do Business will be trialed in four local council areas.

Council Administrator, John Rayner, said that Georges River Council will join City of Parramatta Council, Dubbo Regional Council and Northern Beaches Council to trial the program that is helping entrepreneurs open their business in 90 days or less, stimulating job growth.

“Through the initiative 30 forms have been replaced by a single online application, which has almost halved the amount of duplicated information customers were previously required to provide,” said Mr Rayner.

“Commencing tomorrow, Service NSW will be signing up Easy to do Business customers wanting to start or grow a café, restaurant or small bar in the Georges River Council area.

“By signing up, customers will save time so they can spend more time planning their business and less time filling out forms.”

“Easy to do Business creates one online form to start a business, and offers customers a one-stop-shop to help get their dream business up and running,” said Mr Rayner.

“Council is excited about participating in the trial that promises to encourage an even livelier, exciting local food scene,” he said.

“We understand starting or growing a business can be daunting, which is why we wanted to work with Service NSW to demystify the process, so more business owners will embrace the opportunities that our local area offers.”

Following the trial, Service NSW will roll out the program to more council areas and industry sectors such as clothing retail, housing construction, print and road freight.

Online guides for all five sectors are available for all NSW customers looking to set up their own business. Guides and information on Easy to do Business are on the Service NSW website, www.service.nsw.gov.au/business.
