Have Your Say on Council’s first Community Strategic Plan

27/04/2018

Members of the local community are invited to have their say on Council’s Draft Community Strategic Plan.
At the Council Meeting on Monday 23 April, Council endorsed the Draft Community Strategic Plan 2018 – 2028, Draft Operational Plan and Draft Delivery Plan for public exhibition.

Mayor of Georges River Council, Councillor Kevin Greene, said the exhibition period will provide a good opportunity for members of the community to have their say on the draft documents.

“The Community Strategic Plan highlights the aspirations and goals of the community for the next ten years and identifies the strategies Council will put in place to achieve them,” Councillor Greene said.

“The goals and strategies in the document have been arranged under six key themes which were identified as being important to the community.”

“These themes include having a protected environment and open green spaces; quality and well planned development; active and accessible places and spaces; a diverse and productive economy; and harmonious and proud community with the right social services and infrastructure; and leadership and transparency,” he said.

Councillor Greene added that the Community Strategic Plan is an important document and is encouraging everyone to provide their feedback on it.

“Over 2,000 members of the community helped shape this document through extensive engagement activities,” he said.

“While Council has a good understanding of what it is the community wants from the feedback we received, it is important that we seek further input from people to ensure we are on the right track with the strategies we want to put in place.”

“I strongly encourage everyone to get involved and have their say and help shape the direction Council will take over the next ten years,” he added.
