H.V. Evatt Park receives funding boost

Georges River Council Administrator John Rayner is pleased that Council has received more than $13,000 in grant funding for the installation of solar-powered lighting at H.V. Evatt Park car park in Lugarno.
Mr Rayner said the funding was provided to Council by the Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, and will assist in the installation of much needed lighting for the car park.
“Recently, Council had received requests from residents and sporting groups for lighting to be installed in and around the parking facilities of H.V. Evatt Park,” he said.
“In response to these requests, Council applied for funding through the Federal ‘Stronger Communities Programme’ to which we received $13,750 to install solar-powered lights in and around the parking facilities.
“These lights will improve visibility throughout the car park during the evening and at night, and will also make the area safer for those parking in the grounds during those times.
Mr Rayner said this is a great example of the types of funding Council can receive through the Stronger Communities Programme and thanked Federal Member for Banks, the Hon. David Coleman MP, for his assistance in securing the funds.
“Georges River Council is committed to supporting initiatives and projects which meet local needs and improve on the local area,” he said.
