Grassroots footy gets a major boost at Beverly Hills Park

The Kingsgrove Colts Junior Rugby League Football Club (JRLFC) at Beverly Hills Park is soon to undergo an extensive upgrade which will bring the facility in line with the National Rugby League (NRL) preferred guidelines.

“Over the years, Kingsgrove Colts have partnered with Council previously to carry out capital works at the park, including the amenities building over 15 years ago.

“Given the increasing level of participation in junior rugby league in the local area, and the guidelines provided by the NRL for grassroots clubs, it was clear the facility needed an upgrade to meet the community’s changing needs.

“This project will see the expansion of the current amenities building including an extension which will incorporate a Training Room, Medical Room, a new canteen and secured store room.

“The amenities will also be Disability Discrimination Act compliant, making it accessible for people with disability.

“Council consulted with the JRLFC to establish a plan of management for the refurbishment to ensure it could be achieved within the available budget,” added Mayor Greene.

“We want to make sure the club can offer a safe and secure environment for everyone who wants to play footy, with consideration given to the growing number of female players – one of the fastest growing areas of the game.

$540,000 has been allocated by Council in the Draft 2018-2019 Budget from the Infrastructure Plus Program to undertake the upgrades in the existing building.

Additional funding of $250,000 has been provided by the Federal Government and another $71,000 from the NSW Government Community Building Partnership Programme.
