Georges River Council signs Agreement with the new St George Business Chamber

A Deed of Agreement has been signed between Georges River Council and the newly created St George Business Chamber during a special event on Tuesday 24 January 2017.
Administrator of Georges River Council, John Rayner, said the Agreement outlines the key responsibilities and obligations of both Council and the Chamber for the next five years.
“As part of the Agreement, Council will provide financial contributions of $30,000 to the Chamber each year for the duration of the agreement,” he said.
“This is to assist the Chamber in developing programs and events that support the business community in the local government area.”
“Council will also provide the Chamber a dedicated meeting space at the Georges River Civic Centre located on the corners of MacMahon and Dora Street, Hurstville.”
“The Chamber has also been invited to provide a delegate to sit on the Georges River Council Economic Advisory Committee.”
Mr Rayner explained the St George Business Chamber will also need to adhere to a number of obligations, including acknowledging Georges River Council as a key partner of the Chamber.
“The Chamber is also to host at least eight events over the course of each financial year, one of which must be jointly hosted with Council that updates local businesses about Council’s plans and policies for the local area,” he said.
“The Chamber will also be required to provide annual updates of the activities it has held, partnerships it has achieved and businesses it has helped throughout the local area.
Mr Rayner said the St George Business Chamber will lead to a great number of benefits for members of the local area.

“The Chamber's activities will lead to further economic growth and help encourage a healthy and thriving business sector that provides the community with potential employment opportunities in the Georges River area,” he said.
