Georges River Council’s first Christmas Lights Competition Winners Announced


At a special function on Tuesday 19 December, Mayor of Georges River Council, Kevin Greene, announced the winners of Council’s inaugural Christmas Lights Competition.
The inaugural competition was held to recognise and celebrate the many residents and businesses throughout the Georges River area that brighten up our streets with amazing Christmas light displays that create a warm festive spirit in our community.
Winners were announced for the Best Residential Christmas Lights Display for each ward across the local government area, along with a best overall winner.
Council also awarded a winner for the Best Business Christmas Lights Display within the local area too.
The winners for Council’s first Christmas Lights Competition are:
Overall Residential Christmas Lights Display
Mr Salvatore Sellitto for his house in Souter Street, Kogarah Bay.
Best Business Christmas Lights Display
Mrs Diana Stojanovska’s Poveli Deli Café on Frederick Street, Oatley.
Blakehurst Ward
Mrs Lidija Vasilevski, Currawang Street, Carss Park
Hurstville Ward
Mr John Kovacevic, Hodge Street, Hurstville
Kogarah Bay Ward
Mr Salvatore Sellitto, Souter Street, Kogarah Bay
Peakhurst Ward
Mrs Vicky Digiglio, Rainbow Parade, Peakhurst Heights
Judging took place on the evenings of 11 and 12 December. The judging panel consisted of Councillors, Council’s Director Community and Culture, Youth Advisory Committee members Maria An and Soaliha Iqbal and Council’s 2017 Citizen of the Year, Ms Natalie Esdaile-Watts.
