First of Music at Twilight concerts to feature ARIA award-winning band Monsieur Camembert

Georges River Council is delighted to announce the first concert in its Music at Twilight series which will take place in Kogarah on Wednesday 5 April, featuring the high energy virtuosity of Monsieur Camembert.

Monsieur Camembert is a triple ARIA Award winning six-piece band, which serves up enthralling performances which display extraordinary energy and sensitivity.

The band brilliantly reinterprets classic jazz tunes, weaving them with Gypsy and other World Music styles to create a truly original and intoxicating blend.

Their music has been described by Drum Media as “...a gloriously good humoured and eclectic collection of genres’s all carnival sounds and folk parody but played with undeniable ebullient gusto and enthusiasm. Musically as diverse as the ethnic mix in the line-up itself, and delivered with all the virtuosity, bravado and wit you'd expect from this superbly cerebral yet viscerally driven ensemble".

Local resident and Musical Director of the Sydney Concert Orchestra Dr Steve Watson will be preparing this year’s Music at Twilight concert series for the eighth consecutive year, with another three performances to be held respectively in June, August and October.

Following Monsieur Camembert, the concert line-up features the Australian Army Band Salutes – ‘Great Hits of the Swing Era’; ‘Queenie van der Zandt in Cabaret’; and ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ with performers and musicians under the baton of Dr Watson.

It is expected that this year’s concerts will be highly popular and Council recommends purchasing tickets early to avoid disappointment.
