Find your thing at Georges River Libraries

Hurstville and Kogarah Libraries are offering members the opportunity to access a world of opportunity with the new Library of Things collection, featuring more than 2,000 items for loan.
The collection, which is free to access, has recorded over 6,000 loans since its launch in September 2019, with a wide array of items available. From telescopes, tepees, metal detectors and smart globes, to microphones, robotics kits, star projectors and walkie talkies, the collection will keep both kids and adults entertained.
Musicians and people interested in learning to play an instrument can access various options, including ukuleles and guitars, and sport lovers will be spoilt for choice with badminton sets, portable soccer goals, croquet sets and more also available.
The Library of Things opens up a range of new possibilities with a number of experience kits. Spend a night under the stars observing constellations with a star gazing kit complete with telescope, tepee and a book on the night sky.
Learn about human anatomy with a model of the heart complete with a stethoscope. Or grab a bird watching kit with high-powered binoculars and a bird identification encyclopedia, and head into nature.
The offering has already been a hit with the community, with one resident saying: “The collection has an absolutely fantastic selection of children’s scientific equipment…this is an excellent idea that allows you to borrow and return and learn. Such a valuable resource.”
Borrowing from the Library of Things is easy, all you need is a free Georges River Library card which is open to all residents of NSW. Visit the library with your ID to receive your free library card and find your thing today!  For more information visit
