Everyone is invited to enjoy the Harvest Moon Festival Discovery

As part of the Georges River Council 2017 Discovery Festival of Community Arts there will be a special cross-cultural event – the Harvest Moon Festival Discovery.
Harvest Moon Festival Discovery is designed to bring the whole community together, and build bridges of understanding between our diverse communities. This is a chance for the wider community to learn about and enjoy a rich part of Asian culture – the Moon Harvest Festival.
Following a hands-on demonstration on how to make your own Chinese dumplings, delivered by popular chef, Mr Yichun Chen and his team. Chef Chen and his team will be serving up a delicious Chinese luncheon.
Chef Chen specializes in Sichuan Cuisine and won the Gold Award at the NTDTV 2012 Global Chinese Culinary Competition in New York. He is a cuisine demonstrator for Westfield Shopping Centre and the Sydney Easter Show, tutor of Sichuan Cooking Technical School, as well as host of the Chinese Cuisine Life Style Program on SBS Radio.
Entertainment will feature traditional Chinese instrumentalists, singers and dancers presented by St George Art and Entertainment Centre, led by Director, Jiansheng (Danny) Dong and the duet of French Creole singer, Georgette Kiosidis and Xiaoling (Jenny) Liu will perform their Chansons De La Lune.
Chinese cultural educator, Rachel Qu will share the Moon Festival origins, related stories, significance and family traditions that have developed over millennia for what is second in importance of annual Asian celebrations after Lunar New Year.
Artist Baiou Tang will be on hand to guide guests on how to write their names and good wishes in Chinese Calligraphy on paper lanterns which can be taken home as souvenirs of the day.
