Council to upgrade Chivers Hills Shopping Centre, Lugarno

Georges River Council Administrator John Rayner said works to upgrade the footpaths and street furniture in Chivers Hills Shopping Centre, Lugarno, are set to commence in August 2017.

Mr Rayner said the works will be undertaken by KK Consultants Pty Ltd and will cost approximately $590,000, which will be funded through Council’s Infrastructure Plus Program and Revenue Works Program.

“Chivers Hill Shopping Centre, which is situated along Forest Road in Lugarno, will undergo significant improvements to the streetscape’s appearance.”

“These improvements will make the area a more vibrant and welcoming shopping precinct.”

“As part of the works, Council will repave the footpaths and install new street furniture such as public seating.”

“It is expected that on completion, the works will make the area more enticing for new businesses and encourage greater investment into the local area,” Mr Rayner added.

Mr Rayner said the works are expected to commence at the end of August and be completed by the end of November 2017.

“Footpath works will be carried out in small sections to minimise disruption to businesses in the shopping centre,” he said.

“Arrangements have also been made to retain adequate pedestrian access to all the business premises during the construction activities.”
