Council to improve amenities at Harold Fraser Oval, Kogarah Bay

The Administrator of Georges River Council, John Rayner, said Council will commence works to significantly improve the amenities at Harold Fraser Oval, Kogarah Bay.
Mr Rayner said funding of $1.1 million has been allocated to the works, which was provided through the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund Program.
“These works will see vast improvements to the current old amenities at the oval,” he said.
“The new pavilion building and amenities will be more modern and accessible for all members of the local community, including those with disabilities.”
“With funding provided through the Stronger Communities Fund, Council will be placing a strong emphasis on improving the amenities and facilities at a number of local sports grounds and parks across the local area.”
“Council has planned to allocate nearly $6.25 million to improving these amenities, which will include improving and constructing new change rooms, referee and umpire rooms, canteens, storage areas and public toilets for all community members.”
President of the St George District Cricket Club, Kevin Greene, said he is enthusiastic to hear about Council’s decision to improve the amenities at the oval.
“Our club has used the ground, mainly for our third and fourth grade teams, for just on 25 seasons,” he said.
“Our club is extremely supportive of this Council proposal and looks forward to the significant improvements to what is a lovely sporting facility set in very pleasant surroundings.”
The works for Harold Fraser Oval are planned to commence in August 2017.
Georges River Council has planned for a series of projects to be undertaken across the local area over the next 12 months with funding provided through the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Program.
