Council to help keep kids entertained these school holidays

21/12/2017

With the holiday season upon us once again, parents are faced with the same age old conundrum, ‘What do I do with the kids for six weeks?’.

Fear not! Georges River Council is pleased to announce a series of activities which have been planned over summer to keep the kids entertained.

One that’s sure to bring the inner child out in all of us, the Retro Games Fair at Hurstville Library. This activity brings the games of the past to life in January 2018 with classic games and puzzles that many parents will surely remember. Kids, try your hand at the games your parents used to play and see if you can beat them!

For the creatively minded, Hurstville and Kogarah Libraries will be hosting Drama Games in January for kids aged 6 to12 years. Run by ActivElite, Drama Games is the perfect introduction to acting in a relaxed and friendly environment. Acting is a great way for kids to develop their communication skills, grow confidence and make new friends along the way.

If crafts are more down your creative avenue, Make Your Own Game Craft is a great way to get the creative juices flowing at our local libraries over the summer break. All you need is a few simple materials and your imagination.

Get your reading game on these holidays with the Summer Reading Club and beat the summer brain drain for your chance to win great prizes! Join online and visit your nearest Georges River Library to collect your reading log today. Not only is it a great way to keep up your reading skills over the long break, Summer Reading Club participants will also be invited to attend a presentation evening on the 15th February to receive certificates and winners of the major prize draws will also be announced on the night.
