Council continues to drive support for local business in lead-up to Christmas


Georges River Council at its meeting on Monday committed to providing continued support for local businesses throughout the Recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Council will be erecting Christmas banners around the Georges River area to create a festive spirit locally, and is reminding residents to take part in its Shop Local competition which is running until the end of December.

Anyone who spends $30 or more at a local business is encouraged to upload their receipt to Your Say Georges River, for the chance to win a $100 voucher each week:

Council has been implementing its COVID-19 Economic and Social Recovery Plan, which included granting $43,385 to six businesses as part of the COVID Recovery Grants Program.
Council’s Springboard Program in October featured four free webinars hosted in partnership with Council and the St Georges Business Chamber for Small Business Month, and a significantly discounted mentor program run by the St George Business Chamber.

Earlier in the year, Council launched its Georges River Business ( website, which provides a platform for Council to communicate directly with the local business community on support programs and COVID safe practices.

Council’s City Strategy and Innovation and Environmental Health Teams continue to work closely with local businesses to ensure they remain aware of and adhere to COVID Safe procedures.
