Converse with a Councillor at Community Open Day

Georges River Council is encouraging community members to get involved with its Community Open Day Program launching this September, as part of its commitment to providing increased opportunities for face to face community engagement.

Georges River Council Mayor Kevin Greene is calling for local residents to help Council better understand what matters to them.

“We are committed to providing opportunities for community members to have their voices heard and share their opinions on Council projects and services and are always eager to work towards finding solutions for any issues raised,” said Mayor Greene.

The program has been launched following Council’s extensive consultation with community members during development of the ten-year Community Strategic Plan. Feedback from the community called for stronger community engagement processes facilitating valuable community participation and two-way communication.

Council’s Community Open Day Program will provide community members with an opportunity to share their views directly with a Councillor on a range of initiatives that impact the community and access information about Council projects.

“The Open Days will make it easy for members of the public to personally share insights on the local area with a Councillor and learn about plans for their community.

“It is paramount that we continue to engage community members to ensure Council decision-making supports community interests and I encourage local residents to come along and share any feedback, issues and ideas for improving the local area, no matter how big or small,” Mayor Greene added.

Community Open Days will take place in each Ward of the City throughout 2018 and 2019 with the first to be held at the St George Community Centre in Kogarah on 22 September.

Community members can register for a ten minute session with a Councillor at Your Say Georges River or drop in to receive information on Council services and projects over the next 12 months.
