Community update regarding coronavirus outbreak

Georges River Council wishes to advise residents of advice received from the Department of Health regarding the recent outbreak of a novel coronavirus, first reported in Wuhan, China in December 2019.

The Department of Health has implemented a range of measures to promptly identify cases of novel coronavirus infection and prevent transmission in NSW.

Symptoms of the virus include fever, cough, sore throat, nausea/vomiting and difficulty breathing. People who have travelled to Wuhan, China in the last 14 days and are experiencing symptoms should contact their GP immediately.

Residents are urged to help minimise the risk and spread of the virus by practising hygiene and other measures to protect against infections. These include regularly washing hands and covering your face whilst coughing and sneezing, and avoiding contact with wild or farm animals.

For the latest information on the coronavirus, please visit the Australian Government Department of Health website at and the NSW Health website at which contains the latest updates and information in simplified Chinese as well as English.
