Community invited to help shape the future direction of Olds Park

Georges River Council is calling on community members to help shape a new Master Plan for Olds Park, to guide the use, development and management of this popular park into the future.

Mayor Kevin Greene said the park is a well utilised sporting hub for the Penshurst and wider area, and offers attractive green space that Council hopes can be improved to better serve the community.

“We are calling on park users and neighbours, the local community, and other interested people or groups to contribute their opinions, issues or suggestions to help Council plan the future for this valuable area,” said Mayor Greene.

“Olds Park is very popular for both summer and winter sports, with fields for competition cricket, soccer and AFL, facilities for Little Athletics, along with hard and grassed courts for netball.

“It also offers cricket nets, a golf practice cage and a baseball net, and public toilets are available, along with a pavilion, dressing rooms and storage space for sports groups.

Mayor Greene said community involvement is central to the new Master Plan’s preparation.

“This community engagement aims to make sure the plan considers and responds to community values, needs, and desires for the park and its future development.”

“There will be many ways for people to contribute to the plan including feedback on Council’s Have your say website, via written submissions, and at an on-site information session,” added Mayor Greene.

“Olds Park Sports Club and the Penshurst Branch of the Hurstville Library are located within the park, so the overall area attracts people for a wide range of activities.

“People can take their dogs for walks, go for bike rides with the kids or power walk around the shared path circuit, and personal trainers are able to operate in the park.

A pop-up Council kiosk will be at Olds Park on Saturday 9 March between 10.00am and 2.00pm and people are encouraged to attend to contribute their thoughts and ideas, or alternatively visit the website:

Once prepared, a draft of the Master Plan will be exhibited for public comment.

Council has engaged open space, recreation and environmental planners and landscape architect Gondwana Consulting to assist in the Master Plan’s preparation.
