Community invited to help create improved Olds Park

Significant improvements to sport and recreation facilities in the Georges River area are continuing in 2020, with local residents asked to provide their feedback on the planned improvements for Olds Park in Penshurst.
Mayor of Georges River Council Kevin Greene is encouraging the community to share their feedback relating to the Draft Master Plan for Olds Park, which is on Public Exhibition on Your Say Georges River until 19 February 2020.
“The Draft Master Plan has been developed based on insights gathered during earlier community consultation with sporting groups and park users,” explained Mayor Greene.
“Olds Park is a large and popular sporting hub for the Penshurst and wider area, offering fields and facilities for cricket, AFL and soccer as well as hard and grassed netball courts, and is also a venue for Little Athletics.
“The park is an attractive and well-used green space for casual leisure and recreation and home of The Olds Park Sports Club and the Penshurst Library.
“Given the established nature of the park, the Draft Master Plan does not suggest major changes but rather a series of improvements based on the identified needs of the community.
“These include renovations to the sports pavilion, upgrading the Little Athletics facilities, upgraded skateboarding facilities, playground improvements, stormwater collection and recycling and other sustainability initiatives.
“The Draft Master Plan also flags the possible development of a ‘Community Multipurpose Centre’ and possible co-location of the sealed and grassed netball courts in the longer-term.

“This phase of the community consultation will ensure that all residents have the opportunity to tell us what additional sport or recreation improvements they would like to see within the park.

“There are a variety of ways to share ideas, including at feedback kiosks at Olds Park in early February, online, by email or by mail,” added Mayor Greene.

The Draft Master Plan for Olds Park is on exhibition for comment online at Your Say Georges River until Wednesday 19 February 2020:
