Council observes one minute of silence for victims of Christchurch mosque shooting


Councillors and attendees at Georges River Council’s Ordinary Council Meeting on Monday 25 March 2019 paused for a minute of silence as a mark of respect for the victims of the Christchurch mosque shooting.
Following the minute of reflection, those in attendance joined in a prayer led by Imam Ensar Cutahija from Penshurst Mosque.
Council strongly condemns the horrific terrorist act that occurred on Friday 15 March 2019. Council expresses its deepest condolences to the loved ones of those killed and to all of the people of New Zealand in mourning following the tragic incident.
Council offers its support and stands in solidarity with the Muslim community abroad and in the Georges River area.
