Mayoral Column - Celebrating Local Excellence at the 2025 Georges River Local Business Awards

01/08/2025

This July, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of our local business community at the 2025 Georges River Local Business Awards.

Now in its second year under the Georges River name, the program continues to grow as a valued opportunity to recognise the dedication, creativity and resilience of our local businesses. With 239 businesses named as finalists across 25 categories, the awards evening was a fantastic showcase of local talent and community pride.

Although I couldn’t attend in person, I’d like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all finalists and winners. Your hard work and determination are an important part of what makes Georges River such a dynamic and welcoming place to live and work.

A special congratulations to Master Granny Flat, winner of Business of the Year, and to Victoria Spence from Life Rites Funerals, winner of Business Person of the Year.

Georges River Council is proud to sponsor these awards each year. Local businesses play a vital role in our economy and in the everyday lives of our residents. From providing jobs and services to supporting community initiatives, you’re helping shape a stronger, more connected community.

Through our Business Unite newsletter, Discover Georges River tourism site, and events like the Spark Sydney South innovation forum, Council is committed to supporting and promoting our local business sector year-round.

To all the winners, congratulations on your well-earned success. And to every local business that took part in this year’s awards, thank you for your passion, your service, and your ongoing contribution to our community.

Let’s keep working together to build a thriving, inclusive and sustainable future for Georges River.
