Meal deliveries for Seniors

Meal services are more important than ever with older people being asked to stay at home as much as possible.

The government has released a targeted meal package that prioritises home delivery for senior Australians registered with My Aged Care.

Seniors who don’t have access to the internet can call the My Aged care contact centre direct on 1800 200 422.

The government is also working with grocery suppliers on priority access to their online and telephone shopping for older and vulnerable people including those registered with My Aged Care.

Home Care Package Program

The Home Care Package Program supports older people with complex needs to help them stay at home. The support provides a mix of services including:

  • Help with household tasks

  • Equipment (such as walking frames)

  • Minor home modifications

  • Personal care

  • Clinical care such as nursing, allied health and physiotherapy.

There are four levels of Home Care Packages – from level 1 for basic care needs to level 4 for high care needs.

For more information, see the Home Care Packages website.

In emergency situations, if an older Australian has fully allocated their Home Care Package, they may access short term home support services for a range of services including nursing, personal care and meals.

Speak with your home care provider about these measures or see the fact sheet for older Australians on COVID-19.

Support to keep healthy and connected

The Minister for Aged Care and Senior Australians has released a funding package aimed at ensuring Senior Australians stay healthy and connected.

The funding will support extra staff to train volunteer visitors, who will connect with older people both online and by phone, and assist seniors to keep in touch with the community and loved ones. Read more.
