Heritage Grants

Each year, the Heritage Grants Program provides financial support to help conserve heritage listed buildings or initiate a heritage project.

The 2019/20 Heritage Grants Program is now open for submissions. The closing date for submissions is Friday 30 August 2019.

Owners and agents of heritage listed buildings are eligible for financial assistance for specific restoration or conservation works on their property.

Where works are supported, Council will fund up to a maximum of 50% of the cost of a project (grants range from $100 to a maximum of $10,000.00). The following are examples of the range of previous projects that were supported under the program:

  •  Removal of paintwork to reveal original sandstone.
  • Repointing of brickwork.
  • Restorative work to windows.
  • Reconstruction of original elements.
  • External painting of traditional colour schemes.
  • Repair of tessellated floor tiles.
  • Reinstatement of traditional fencing.

Requests for grant funding must include a completed application form. Your application should give a detailed description of the proposed work and include quotations (at least 2), photographs and sketches, if necessary. Please review the terms and conditions in the guidelines.

If you are a successful applicant, all works must be completed and paid invoices sent to Council before the end of the financial year. This is to ensure that you are refunded the agreed grant amount by the end of the financial year.

You are also reminded that any proposed works to heritage items may require Council approval.

For further information please contact Council’s Strategic Planning Team on 9330 6192 or 9330 6260.
