Insight with Black Dog Institute (Community Led Event)

20/10/2021 - Online via ZOOM

One in four young Australians experience a mental illness and 65% of them do not seek professional support.

It can be tough for a young person going through a difficult time to understand what it will mean if they do voice their feelings or who to even speak with.

This presentation, developed by experts, has been designed to help young people be able to:

  • Identify depression from normal mood swings
  • Understand types of mental health concerns
  • Recognise symptoms of depression and anxiety
  • Know when professional help is needed
  • Understand treatment options
  • Feel free and confident to talk about mental health
  • Spot and monitor warning signs in themselves and others

The presentation

This 30-minute presentation is delivered by community members who have lived through and experienced mental illness. The presenters speak from the heart, sharing their personal story as well as the Black Dog Institutes expert knowledge.
