Reconciliation Week

Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community.

Reconciliation Week is recognised annually from 27 May through to 3 June. Council joins members of the community to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

In 2019 we launched "Walking Together', a documentary showcasing local stories about friendship and reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people. Enjoy the film.

For further information about Georges River's work with Aboriginal People is detailed on our Aboriginal People webpage.
