Harmony Day

On Harmony Day each year, we join local residents, community groups and school students to reaffirm our commitment to the values underpinning a peaceful society.
These values include respect, fairness, and a sense of belonging for all. The day promotes community participation, inclusiveness and respect – celebrating the different cultures that make Australia a great place to live.

In 2019, we invited the community to come together and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the area. A free celebration of cultural activities and performances was held at Hurstville Entertainment Centre including traditional dancing and music, children's activities, Henna hand painting, Chinese Calligraphy, information stalls and delicious food to share.

Harmony Day 2019 was presented by Georges River Council in partnership with Advance Diversity Services, MTC Australia, SGCH (community housing), St George Police Area Command, Department of Human Services and TAFE NSW, St George.
