Operation Art is an annual exhibition celebrating its 27th Anniversary this year. These 50 artworks created by students across New South Wales will tour the state before finding their home at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where they will help make sick children feel better through the power of art.

Operation Art is an in initiative of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in partnership with The NSW Department of Education.

Join a tour of the current Main Gallery exhibition, Our Journeys | Our Stories , with your little one. 

A special sensory pit of soft and textured materials, interesting sounds, colours and shapes will also be available for your baby to explore.

Student workshops - Kindergarten to Year 10  - this event has passed. 

Emilie-Gilmore,-Pinky-Operation-Art-Thumbnail-250-x-250.jpgStudents spend a whole day making, creating and learning new visual arts skills. Workshops cover a variety of different topic areas, including drawing, painting, printing, mixed media and sculpture.

Delivered by specialist visual arts teachers, these full-day workshops are designed to extend participants' skills and artmaking experiences beyond the classroom. Students who display a higher level of engagement in visual arts will benefit from these challenging opportunities.

•    Stage 1 (Year 1-2) Monday 29 August 2022
•    Stage 2 (Year 3-4) Tuesday 30 August 2022
•    Stage 3 (Year 5-6) Wednesday 31 August 2022 
•    Stage 4 (Year 7-8) Thursday 1 September  2022

Operation Art Professional Learning - Primary teachers

Teachers spend a day making, creating and learning in visual arts. Covering three different topic areas, perfect for building confidence and skills in primary visual arts. Workshops are held in regional and metro areas across NSW.

These workshops develop teacher's skills and confidence to deliver practical artmaking lessons to their class.
