Covid-19: Business Support - Vaccine and dealing with a positive link

COVID-19 vaccines - an important tool in our fight against COVID-19

The Australian Government has started the COVID-19 vaccination program, a significant milestone. The COVID-19 vaccines approved for use in Australia have passed the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s (TGA) rigorous assessment and approval processes to ensure they are effective and safe for use.

The COVID-19 vaccines are being offered in phases. People who are most vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19 or who have the highest risk of being exposed to the virus are being offered the vaccine first. Vaccines will then be progressively offered to all adults who wish to receive the vaccine. You can find out what phase you are in at nsw.gov.au. The vaccine will be free for everyone, including people without a Medicare card.

COVID-19 vaccines are not mandatory. It is, however, strongly encouraged as an important way to protect you, your family and the community from the effects of COVID-19. Businesses can find more information at Safe Work Australia. Service NSW also has a Business Concierge that can help with specialised support and advisory services, as well as Business Connect specifically for small business.

As the COVID-19 vaccination program starts, it’s important to ensure your staff and customers continue to practise COVID safe behaviours. COVID safe behaviours, together with the COVID Safe Check-in tool which helps NSW Health contact tracers contact you if there is a positive COVID-19 case, are the most effective ways of helping stop the spread of COVID-19. You should also have an up-to-date COVID Safety Plan in place.
