St George Business Chamber

Tracing its history back to 1922 as the Hurstville Chamber of Commerce, the St George Business Chamber’s mission is to advocate on behalf of local business to local, state and federal governments and the wider community. The Chamber also assists local businesses to maximise their potential through regular networking and educational events.
 

Realise Business

Realise Business is based in Kirrawee NSW Sydney’s premier small business advisory service. 

Established in 1989, until 2017 they were known as Business Enterprise Centre (BEC) Southern Sydney – offering support to businesses based in Southern Sydney and Sutherland Shire.

In January 2017, they were awarded the NSW Business Connect contract to provide free one-to-one business advice sessions, business advisory services, and training workshops to small businesses and disrupted industries across the Sydney area; including Southern Sydney, Inner West, Sydney’s CBD, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, and Northern Beaches.
 

Easy to do Business

Starting a new business is exciting. But working out the licences and permits needed can be daunting. That’s why the NSW Government has introduced Easy to do Business, a free service offered across a range of industries, that provides personalised support via a dedicated business concierge when starting or expanding a small business.

The Business Concierge will call you and provide tailored help. They can help you with what you need to do, how to do it and when you need to get it done.

Here’s just some of what your concierge can offer you with opening or expanding a small business:

  • Sense-checking applications including licences and permits for small businesses to make sure they’re high quality and decision-ready before being submitted with councils and agencies.
  • Help with how to register a business.
  • Introductions to existing specialist support and advisory networks that can help and provide advice on how to start your own business.
  • Guidance to give you the certainty of understanding what you need to be doing to start your businesses sooner.
 

Invest NSW

Invest NSW is responsible for promoting, attracting and facilitating foreign investment in Sydney and NSW. They provides a NSW Investment Concierge as a first point of contact for businesses looking to invest and can:

  • Assist with market intelligence and investment opportunities.
  • Help with business case development.
  • Help identify suitable investment locations and partners in NSW.
  • Assist with familiarisation visits to NSW.
  • Advise on NSW government programs and approval processes.
  • Connect you with government contacts and the local business network.

Invest NSW services to international companies are free, comprehensive and confidential.

The NSW Government offers a range of programs and initiatives to support businesses as they grow to reach their full potential in NSW. These programs and initiatives have a range of eligibility requirements and can vary on sector or geographic needs.
 

.ID - Economic Profile

.ID Profile provide services to over 300 local councils (including Georges River Council) and regional authorities across Australia and New Zealand with regards to detailed local area profiles, which are then made available to the public as a shared resource for the community.

Collectively, this forms a rich source of local demographic and economic data, population forecasts and interactive demographic maps for all the local areas that subscribe to these tools.

Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner

Small businesses in NSW have a dedicated Commissioner to represent them.

The NSW Small Business Commissioner's role is to:

  • Represent small businesses within government and to help resolve issues at the earliest possible opportunity.
  • Help close information gaps and stand up for businesses where there is systemic unfair treatment of a group.
  • Help small businesses to navigate government.
  • Work with government agencies to help them better engage with small businesses.

To achieve these goals, the Small Business Commissioner offers a number of services. These include:

  • Dispute resolution services.
  • Speaking up for small business within government.
