Additional Waste and Recycling

There are many household items that can contain hazardous or valuable materials which should not be disposed of in landfill. Technological advancements and legislation surrounding product stewardship now means a variety of recycling programs are available for residents to safely dispose of these items.

To help you dispose of an item, you can search by item type.

Asbestos Removal

Asbestos is a dangerous material which was commonly used until being banned throughout Australia in 2003. Due to the danger it can pose, there are strict safety protocols for the removal and disposal of asbestos.

To minimise the risk of asbestos exposure to yourself or your family, WorkCover recommends that householders engage a licensed asbestos removal contractor. Asbestos waste must be disposed of at a landfill facility that accepts it and may require 24 hours of notice before being dropped off.
