Council Officers conduct patrols of parking areas to assist residents, businesses and visitors to the area to find parking. Parking in and around the Kogarah and Hurstville CBD areas is limited and Officers help to ensure parking is made available to access hospitals, medical facilities and also support the viability of business by helping to turn over available parking spaces.
Parking Officers and Rangers conduct regular school patrols with the support of the schools. Illegal parking practices around schools create safety issues for children and road users alike. Vehicles found parking illegally in school zones may be issued penalty infringement notices that attract demerit points. Schools are also provided with educational material regarding parking to help minimise illegal parking in school zones.
Officers also respond to requests from the community regarding reports of illegal parking, such as vehicles parking in:
- Mobility Parking zones
- Loading Zones
- Timed parking areas
- Obstructing driveways
Parking – Heavy or Long Vehicles
Council Officers investigate reports regarding heavy or long vehicles parking in built-up areas.
